A research record, like a note card, records an observation and maybe an interpretation. Be sure to include a link to what you found so your steps can be retraced by others.

Another source of information about a school's curriculum is its website. Schools often post a list of courses they offer online. Check the Guidance Dept's webpage.

Describe what you saw:

  • The first link had graphs that showed
    • the proficiency levels in Math and English of students in 11th grade.
    • a table with the SAT scores of seniors.
    • graphs to show 11th graders' progress over a year in Math and English proficiency.
    • Two more graphs showed the proficiency level for English and Math for different characteristics of students.
Is NK really an all-white high school, as was indicated on this graph? - fogleman fogleman
It pretty much is an all - white school, the numbers of other ethnic groups is slim to none - goulet goulet
  • The second link shows information in regards to AP courses. It shows the number of seniors who took the AP exams, if they scored at college level and the percentage of these.
These rates can be compared with the state averages to get a measure of high or low AP participation and success.- fogleman fogleman
  • The third link shows a NCLB school report card.
  • The fourth link shows specific AP courses available including several in different disciplines.

Why might this be useful for us?

  • The first link would be useful because it shows several versions of proficiency which would apply for the standards of the NCLB.
  • The second link would be useful because it shows the information needed about AP courses.
  • The third link would be useful because it would help answer the question in regards to the standards including NCLB
  • The fourth link is useful because it shows specific AP courses.
